Guest post: The beginnings of London Mothers Club

We’re so pleased to welcome Kerrie Anne to Mums and Me, to tell us about the wonderful London Mothers Club.

Kerrie is a new mum to gorgeous little Ivy and is a real inspiration when it comes to acting on an idea.

We’ll let her tell you more herself!

London Mothers ClubSix months ago I gave birth to my first child, the lovely little Ivy. Before Ivy I spent a lot of my spare time making crafty things, pampering, reading way too many fashion magazines and was quite partial to the odd night out!

As a new mum and the first of my friends to have a baby, I was determined not to give up on the things I had once enjoyed and to make new mum friends with similar interests. After speaking to a few mums and realizing that I was not alone in this quest, I decided (along with my sister and friend Becky) to create a club for mums that would offer all the things we formerly enjoyed! And this is where London Mothers Club (LoMoC) was born…

That was 6 weeks ago.  Since then I have been busily teaming up with lovely skilled people and have prepared some brilliant events for LoMoC including: jewellery making, flower design, card making, scrapbooking, nutrition workshops, personal style sessions, pampering parties and lots more….

I’ve also teamed up with Mummy SOS (a great babysitting and nanny service) so that we can offer child care at all of our events – that’s right, you can bring your little one along with you and we will do the supervising!

Being an all of nothing type of girl, I have thrown myself into this completely and so between being a full-time mum and preparing for our fab events I have been getting crafty by making birthday cards, wedding invitations, baby shower bracelets,  and even hosting an evening of earrings for some of my lovely friends. Here are a few pics and there are more on our blog if you fancy a look.

Jewellery and cardsSo when’s all this happening? Well, we are going to be holding free taster events in three locations towards the end of June and beginning of July. These will be an opportunity for mums to have a go at making some earrings and cards (like the ones in the pictures), as well as small flower arrangement. It will also be a great opportunity to hear about our events that will start in September and to offer any feedback on what we have planned.

The free taster events are as follows:

26 June 2012, 2-4pm – Piccolo Play, Chiswick

4 July 2012, 2-4pm  – The Alwyne Castle, Islington

11 July 2012, 2-4pm – The Plough, St John’s Hill, Clapham

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling nervous and scared about how things are going to go but then again, I am a natural worrier!  Fingers crossed it all goes well…

If you would like to come along to a free taster or would like more information then please email me at ka@londonmothersclub.com

Also, if you have any skills that you would like to offer to LoMos then please do get in touch as we would love to hear from you.
