Me Time Monday: The knit edition

It’s Monday which means it’s time to take a slice of the selfish and do something just for us.

I’m Molly and I write and edit the Mums and Me blog – while juggling life as a mum to a toddler, radio presenter and writer.

We launched Me Time Monday last week as a regular linky to inspire us all to do something for ourselves at least once a week. I loved reading about your moments of “me time” last week, from hockey to reading, pamper evenings to outfit makeovers.

The drill’s the same this week. I’m sharing something I’ve done just for myself and then I’m going to open the floor to you too.

The last week has been a horrendously busy one in our household. With a two year old full of cold and a gazillion looming work deadlines, I’ve not had much time to sit down, let alone give myself a bit of “me time”. But on Friday evening I forced myself to put my feet up and dig out a bag of wool, knitting needles and knitting pattern I bought for myself recently. I know – I’m SO rock and roll.

As an avid blog reader I often come across lovely posts about homespun creations and I’ve felt a pang of jealousy as I imagine the satisfaction that could come from knitting a lovely blanket or jumper. I’ve often thought knitting could be a great activity for my busy hands as I’m watching TV. Rather than tapping away on a computer or phone, tweeting or checking out Facebook, I could calm my hectic mind and focus my hands on a quieter activity.

It was an email from a Twitter friend, Knitty Mummy, who finally persuaded me to invest in some wool. So a little while ago I took the plunge and bought some beautiful red Merino wool and a pattern for a lovely cosy blanket.

Knitting with red Merino woolOn Friday night I finally sat down and forced myself to work out the pattern and have a go. And now I’m addicted. It’s the perfect way to switch off and reclaim a bit of time to myself.

I’d like to know what you’ve done for yourself this week. It doesn’t have to be knitting based. It could be a bit of pampering, an exercise class, some time spent reading a book, or a lovely autumn walk while the kids are at school.

Don’t forget to grab the badge code on the side and pop it on your post. And then link up and inspire me.

Happy Me Time Monday!

  1. Yay! So glad you bit the bullet and started knitting! I find it one of the best ways to relax. I SO wish I had time to knit myself, and to join in and link up a post… maybe when things calm down a little?
    xx

Hi put my link on it’s one day older than in the last week, hope that’s ok. I’ve also started a linky, a bit unsuccessfully this week, called Inspire Me, which I post on a Monday and you might like. Keep up the knitting, I know once I finally start something I find it hard to stop.
